PlayStation 5 Architect Sees Bright Future For Consoles

Very few people have been in the video game industry as long as Mark Cerny, the architect of Sony’s PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Cerny got his start at Atari in the ’80s, and he’s seen just about everything in the four decades that followed. That’s why it’s encouraging to hear that Cerny doesn’t believe that consoles are on the way out in an era where PC gamers are getting titles that were once PlayStation exclusives.

“I think as long as we continue to create that very nice package, the future of consoles is pretty bright,” explained Cerny during an interview with GamesIndustry.biz. Cerny is also adamant that Sony isn’t trying to make PlayStations into inexpensive PCs.

The downward slop of consoles includes Sony’s recent admission that PlayStation 5 sales won’t meet the …

Assassin's Creed Valhalla- Wrath Of The Druids DLC Review

The Assassin’s Creed franchise has typically relied on its story-based DLC to enhance the narrative of its games. This is usually done in one of two ways: As a means of filling in obvious holes within a game’s plot (like Assassin’s Creed II’s Bonfire of the Vanities), or as a method of continuing a protagonist’s story to further explain how they connect to other games in the series (like Odyssey’s Legacy of the First Blade). The first of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s two post-launch story-driven DLCs, Wrath of the Druids, doesn’t fit into either camp. Without much tying it back to the main story of Valhalla or the franchise as a whole, the DLC doesn’t quite serve a distinct purpose and it’s worse off for it.

In Wrath of the Druids, Eivor receives a letter from he…

Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access Saves–And The Game Itself–Should Be Deleted Ahead Of Launch

Larian Studios is advising those who played Baldur’s Gate 3 during its early access period to launch the game, delete all save files, and then uninstall the game itself ahead of its full August 3 launch on PC.

The developer said it will provide a more in-depth blog post on August 2 on all the steps involved, but posted a PSA on Twitter for those who want to be ahead of the curve. Larian stated that deleting save files and uninstalling the early access version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will “reduce the risk of file conflicts when the final game downloads, and should mean more playing, and no troubleshooting!” Larian additionally advised players to remove any mod files so that they do not automatically re-download once the full version of the game arrives. Come from Read more

Former Xbox Exec Explains Why Microsoft Encouraged The Console War

Former Xbox executive Peter Moore, who helped oversee the company during the Xbox 360 era, recently spoke about how he “encouraged the console wars” amongst his team as a way to produce healthy competition. Xbox’s main rival at the time was Sony and its PlayStation 3 console, which was challenged by Xbox-exclusive titles, Xbox Live, and a lack of executives willing to get a tattoo to help promote upcoming games.

“We encouraged the console wars, not to create division, but to challenge each other, and when I say each other I mean Microsoft and Sony,” Moore said to the Front Office Sports podcast. “If Microsoft hadn’t stuck the course after the Xbox, after the Red Rings of Death, gaming would be a poorer place for it, you wouldn’t have the competition you have today.”

Football Manager 25 Delayed, Cutting Some Features

As for cut features, the mode International Management will not be playable in FM25, FM25 Console, or FM25 Touch. Jacobson cited the difficulty of transferring the series to Unity and claimed the mode would not reach the studio’s “initial quality threshold.” The team also looked at the in-game data. Reportedly, only 5.6% of FM24 PC saves played International Management. Football Manager 2017 Review
